Program Overview

General Management Methods of analysing the company, the market and the competition as well as the model of value creation chain for implementing a process-oriented point of view of corporate management are introduced. In order to integrate processes in corporate structures successfully, different criteria, characteristics and instruments will be covered. For the management of processes, organisations and cooperation systems and supporting instruments are needed. Therefore, leading concepts and management instruments of controlling as well as their application are discussed. Different subsystems of corporate management will be analysed and instruments and methods such as budgeting, benchmarking and performance measurement will be introduced. As practical management is often project-oriented, the abilities of leading and coordinating projects will be strengthened. Techniques of information and communication management within the company and projects as well as change management and human resource management will be introduced. To support analysing and planning activities in management, quantitative methods and methods from system analysis are used. Supply Chain Management First, a holistic and complex management model for logistics is developed. This conceptual design is used to deal with special problems in logistics management. Elements of the leading system, like aim system or tasks, like normative and strategic planning will be deepened within the professional context. Second, the model of a logistics chain is introduced. This covers all logistics related leading and execution tasks by the operational areas of a company and within the relations to value-added partners and customers. Management instruments will be introduced. These management instruments are needed for maintaining efficiency, for the production of goods and services, and for the adaptation of logistics systems in manufacturing companies. The necessity of global and integrated production planning and controlling is shown and supported by models and concepts for integrative consideration and cross-company management of the logistics chain. Focusing on supply-related logistics chain solutions for supplier management, strategic and operative make-or-buy decision making as well as the integration of logistics service providers will be developed and discussed. Applied Logistics Management Concepts of electronic business for company supply and sales including problems resulting from the higher complexity of global markets will be covered. Information systems support the complex requirements and tasks within the logistics management by information supply, distribution and processing. Skills for choosing, adjusting, and using information systems will be imparted. Nowadays, as environmental aspects should be considered while planning, designing and executing logistics services, ways to include consideration of these factors in logistics decision making will be covered.
