APS India dMAT FAQ

APS India dMAT FAQ for Indian students

Do I need dMAT for APS India? This page is built for Indian students who want to check whether the Digital Master Test (dMAT) is required or not for a Germany Master's application through APS India.

The current APS India dMAT requirement is aimed at selected Master's applicants from India, especially applicants whose previous degree falls inside affected fields such as Engineering, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or Management.

This checker also covers the APS certificate dMAT exemption, the Summer Semester 2027 rollout, and the 29 June 2026 registration or shipment cutoff that can exempt the same APS procedure.

For applicants from Kerala, the university name alone does not decide dMAT. APS India looks at the exact official degree title, branch, major, honours subject, or specialisation printed on your marksheets, transcript, and degree certificate.

FAQ 1

Do I need dMAT for APS India if I am applying for a Germany Master's from India?

+

If you are a regular Master's applicant from India, targeting Summer Semester 2027 or a later intake, and your previous degree falls in an affected field such as Engineering, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or Management, dMAT may be required by APS India. If you already have your APS certificate, or if your APS registration or complete shipment happened before 29 June 2026 for the same APS procedure, dMAT may not be required.

FAQ 2

Is dMAT mandatory for APS India for Summer Semester 2027 and later?

+

For the affected applicant groups identified by APS India, yes. APS India states that dMAT is a required part of the APS documentation for selected Master's applicants connected to the Summer Semester 2027 intake and later intakes. Bachelor's applicants, PhD applicants, and officially confirmed exchange or double-degree applicants are not part of the current dMAT scope.

FAQ 3

Is dMAT required or not if I already have APS certificate?

+

If APS India has already completed your APS procedure and already issued your APS certificate, dMAT is not required for that completed APS procedure. If you start a new APS application later, the rules applicable at that later time can apply to the new file.

FAQ 4

What is the dMAT affected fields list for APS India?

+

APS India currently points to three main affected field groups: Engineering; Commerce / Accounting / Finance / Economics; and Business / Management. The final decision is based on the exact official previous degree title, branch, major, honours subject, or specialisation shown in your academic documents, not just the university name or the Master's program you want to study in Germany.

FAQ 5

Do KTU B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Electronics and Communication Engineering graduates from Kerala need dMAT for APS India?

+

Usually they are strong dMAT candidates under the current APS India rule, because those official branch titles clearly fall inside Engineering. For many Keralalite applicants from APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), the important point is that APS India does not decide from B.Tech alone. The official branch wording matters. B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, or Electronics and Communication Engineering is much more likely to fall inside the affected Engineering group than a vague or mixed technology title.

FAQ 6

Do Kerala B.Com, B.Com Finance, B.Com Accounting and Finance, BBA, BBM, or Economics graduates need dMAT for APS India?

+

Often yes, if the official previous degree title clearly falls inside Commerce, Finance, Economics, Business, or Management and the rest of the APS dMAT conditions also apply. This can affect common Kerala degree titles from universities such as the University of Calicut, Mahatma Gandhi University, the University of Kerala, and Kannur University when the official wording is B.Com, B.Com Finance, B.Com Accounting and Finance, BBA, BBM, Business Administration, or Economics.

FAQ 7

Do BCA, B.Sc Computer Science, B.Sc Information Technology, B.Sc Data Science, or B.Sc Biotechnology graduates from Kerala need dMAT?

+

Not automatically under the current APS India affected-fields list. APS India specifically says that BCA, Computer Science without Engineering designation, standalone Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and B.Sc Biotechnology are not automatically covered. That means many Kerala applicants with BCA or B.Sc Computer Science should not assume dMAT is mandatory, but mixed or unusual cases can still be reviewed individually by APS India.

FAQ 8

Do Hotel Management, Tourism Management, Aviation Management, Hospital Administration, or Healthcare Management graduates from Kerala need dMAT?

+

These are not decided by the word Management alone. APS India says many sector-specific management degrees need separate formal assessment. So a Kerala applicant with BBA Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism Management, Aviation Management, Hospital Administration, or Healthcare Management should not assume either automatic inclusion or automatic exclusion. APS India can classify the exact degree title case by case.

FAQ 9

Does dMAT replace APS certificate, anabin, or university recognition?

+

No. dMAT does not replace APS document verification, the APS certificate, anabin, or the formal recognition of your institution or degree. A strong dMAT score does not fix a recognition problem. APS India still checks the institution, degree, academic documents, and the normal APS requirements separately.

FAQ 10

Is Digital Master Assessment Test the same as Digital Master Test (dMAT)?

+

Yes, people may search both phrases, but APS India currently uses the official term Digital Master Test (dMAT). Some news coverage and third-party discussion may use the phrase Digital Master Assessment Test. On this page, both phrases refer to the same APS India dMAT rollout for selected Master's applicants from India.
