International Management
TU Dresden
Program Overview
Globalisation and national protectionism, trade wars, financial crises and currency turbulences – these are only some of the current challenges for internationally active enterprises. Nonetheless, the number of enterprises that feel the strategic necessity to internationalise their activities is growing. Faced with this turbulent environment and the special problems of international business activities, many international involvements fail. Spectacular cases such as Walmart in Germany or the merger of Daimler Chrysler are impressive examples for that. To lead an international enterprise successfully requires not only classical business management skills but also knowledge of the peculiarities of international business activities: knowledge of foreign markets, language skills and intercultural competencies gain importance. The Master's programme in International Management prepares students right for these tasks. Due to our special location on the border triangle of Germany, Poland and Czechia, our emphasis lies on the activities of Western European enterprises in Middle and Eastern Europe (and vice versa). Besides of the theory of intercultural communication, foreign language skills in English, Polish and Czech are part of the schedule. But also current developments such as the growing importance of the BRICS states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) or global and regional tendencies of integration and disintegration are looked at closely.
