Program Overview

The Graduate School of SimTech offers an interdisciplinary structure and international training programme in order to prepare the candidates with optimal conditions for their successful doctoral degree and beyond. Doctoral researchers at GS SimTech: Have at least two supervisors from different subject areas Benefit from a second, external reviewer from outside the University of Stuttgart Can attend courses and seminars specially designed for simulation technology Are able to exchange technical and methodical information Are integrated into the overarching research contexts of the project networks, with their projects Are given optimal feedback opportunities via a milestone presentation that occurs after one and a half years Establish international contacts through a mandatory three-month stay in a foreign research institute At the University of Stuttgart, the Graduate Academy of University of Stuttgart (GRADUS) serves as the umbrella for existing efforts to promote young researchers at all career stages. It provides the framework for all graduate schools on campus, establishes common rules and standards with respect to requirements and quality assurance, and it offers training opportunities and elaborate mentoring programmes. It fosters interdisciplinarity and a graduate culture through joint activities. Beyond these broad activities of the university, the Stuttgart Center for Simulation Science (SC SimTech) has developed a highly successful suite of programmes and measures to attract, educate, and support a bright new generation of researchers. These programmes range from motivating and engaging high school students in our Junior Academy via dedicated undergraduate Elite Study programmes and doctoral training to offering support for independent junior faculty in the SimTech Graduate Academy. The Center for Simulation Science awards the following academic degrees: Dr-Ingenieur/Dr-Ingenieurin (Dr-Ing) Doktor/Doktorin der Naturwissenschaften (Dr rer nat) Doktor/Doktorin der Philosophie (Dr phil) Doktor/Doktorin der Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften (Dr rer pol) All regulations are based on the Doctoral Degree Regulations of the University of Stuttgart .
