The internationally-oriented "Digitalisation & Sustainability in Materials Science & Engineering" Master’s programme offers an interdisciplinary curriculum, combining the three areas of Materials Science, Digitalisation, and Sustainability. The programme is designed to cover all essential topics in these fields while allowing you the flexibility to choose your areas of focus. Module Overview: Connected Knowledge in Materials Science Get an introduction to key Materials Science concepts from the undergraduate studies. Basic Area: Build a solid foundation in the fields of Materials Science, Informatics, and Sustainability. Basic Area 1: Materials Science Select at least three modules based on your interests, including: Biomaterials Polymer Materials Functional Materials Ceramic Matrix Composites Metallic Materials Basic Area 2: Informatics Python and Machine Learning Numerical Methods and Applied Statistics Basic Area 3: Sustainability Environmental and Resource Technology Carbon & Life Cycle Management Focus Areas: Broaden and deepen your knowledge by exploring interdisciplinary focus areas that combine Materials Science with Materials Informatics or Sustainability. Choose five modules from the following focus areas: Sustainable Applications & Processes for Materials Circular Economy & Sustainable Raw Materials Digitalisation in Materials Science Research Modules: Apply your knowledge in practice by selecting two research modules from participating chairs. Individual Knowledge Development: Broaden your expertise by choosing one module from another Master’s programme within the engineering faculty. Social, Economical, and Legal Aspects of Sustainability: Enhance your understanding of the societal, economic, and legal dimensions of sustainability by taking at least one course in this area. Master's Thesis: Complete your Master’s thesis under the supervision of a chair in the Faculty of Engineering. Academic Admission

A Bachelor's university degree in "Material Science & Engineering" or "Engineering Science" at the University of Bayreuth or an equivalent degree Qualification A completed course of studies in the Bachelor's programme Materials Science and Engineering or Engineering Science at the University of Bayreuth or a degree equivalent thereto Equivalency Equivalency of the completed Bachelor's degree is the responsibility of the board of examiners and is not determined conclusively until the application process is underway. For this reason, no information can be provided in advance. Applying without a degree certificate Applications may already be submitted before completion of the Bachelor's degree. However, a total of at least 150 credits is required by the time of application. Special Conditions Conditional admission is possible. Special conditions may comprise up to 20 credit points (see Examination Regulations § 2 para 2).

APS Certificate

An APS certificate is required for applicants who have completed their qualifying education in India, China, or Vietnam.
