If you are an international student, you are required to have sufficiently good proficiency in English at level B2 (CEFR), documented by providing the results of a recently passed language certificate. We accept the following language certificates: TOEFL2 iBT (internet-based) with at least 79 points TOEFL Essentials (internet-based) with at least 8.0 score IELTS test, academic module with at least 6.0 band score Cambridge English Qualification with at least 173 points or certificate in B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency, B2 Business Vantage or C1 Business Higher PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic with at least 67 points or telc English B2/C1 university NULTE certificate B2 All certificates must not be older than two years at the time of enrolment. Only graduated BSc students from Australia, UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, USA do not need to provide a B2 language certificate. All other BSc graduates must provide the B2 English language certificate according to the requirements on our website even if the BSc programme was taught in English. If you are a student with a German Bachelor's degree, you are required to prove English language skills at a B2 level. This can also be proven by the certificate of the Abitur.

Academic Admission
Bachelor's degree or German Diploma ("Diplom") degree in applied science, chemistry, electrical engineering, computational finance, mathematics, mechanical engineering, physics, safety engineering, or in a related field. The regular length of the Bachelor's study programme should equal at least six semesters, and it should correspond to 180 ECTS credits. The Master's course of study requires advanced knowledge in one of the fields of specialisation: atmospheric physics, computational electromagnetics, computational finance, computational fluid mechanics, detector physics, imaging in medicine, molecular and materials modelling, or theoretical particle physics. Knowledge of mathematics corresponding to a Bachelor of Science or Engineering is also required. Knowledge of at least one programming language corresponding to eight ECTS A self-assessment of programming skills is provided on the website. It is a mandatory step on the scientific check sheet. Self-assessment for each specialisation is also provided on the website. We may require a digital entrance examination on basic mathematics at the Bachelor's level and programming skills. Please refer to our website to see the documents required for application. If you are not a German citizen, you must include a completed copy of this application form .
